Hey!
I’m Brenda, one of the hair stylists at Fancy! Salon. As
a kid, I tortured my barbies and dolls with my hair styling experiments.
Those poor dolls ended up with haircuts--not what school scissors are made
for--and funky hair color. (Thank you, Crayola markers!) Since then, I have
moved on from dolls, and have been doing "real people" hair for
over 6 years. One thing about being a hair stylist that I absolutely love,
is that I get to meet people of all ages, cultures, beliefs, and walks of
life; all unique, with different hair needs. I enjoy working with hair in
general, yet I've always drawn clients with "big", out-of-control
hair. You know, the kind that won’t lay down and tends to end up in
some crazy pyramid/triangle shape? Yep, I can help you with that. Oh, you
don't have "big" hair? No worries! I can help you get some body
and bounce in your fine, limp hair too! Whatever you choose, whether it’s
subtle and natural or crazy, colorful and funky, let's do it!
I prefer to take my time with hair, as my ultimate goal is for you to LOVE
your hair. I will always be honest and upfront with you about what
your hair can and can't do or chemically handle. Want honesty? Just ask!
Feel free to be open with me as well if there is anything you're unsure
about.

Clear
communication is crucial to getting the look you want and feedback is
always appreciated. There's no pretending required with me or
at Fancy! Salon. Just come as you are and let me make you feel
and look fabulous! I look forward to meeting you!
What else do I do? Education--I am finishing my final year at PSU for
my BA in Social Science (Black Studies and Sociology). Why? I like school,
learning new things and torturing myself with finals. Joking about the
finals part, but I do enjoy school. There are no intentions on giving
up hair, now or ever, and I will continue doing hair as long as I love
it. If, for whatever reason, long down the road I don't want to or can't
do hair anymore, then I can switch to something in the Social Science
area.
Volunteer--There are so many great organizations out there helping people,
animals, the environment that need volunteers. Some of my favorite that
I've volunteered with are: Dress For Success Oregon, VOZ, Zimbabwe Artists
Project, Transition Projects, and many more. Check out www.handsonportland.org
It's easy to use and you can search for ways to get involved, as much
or as little as you'd like, no matter what you're interested in.
If you've seriously read all of this and still want to know more, just
ask! Please, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding
services, prices, or availability.
